PAUL HILL

Paul Hill

Paul Hill

Paul grew up in Bonners Ferry Idaho on a small farm/ranch at the base of Black Mountain.  He grew up hunting, fishing and playing sports.  He also participated in the daily chores on the farm including milking cows, hauling hay, feeding livestock, tending gardens and assisting his dad with logging their timber.  From an early age, Paul enjoyed studying nature and grew up wandering the forests with his brothers and friends.  In many ways he lived a very Tom Sawyer’esq existence.  Paul developed a love of art in high school that has stayed with him throughout his life.  Paul spent 31 years in the medical field, 29 years as a nurse, retiring in 2020.  Throughout his nursing profession Paul painted as a hobby and a way to relieve stress.  Eventually this lead to being “discovered” by a client at the hospital Paul was employed with and he began selling paintings professionally in 2010 at  Angel gallery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  In addition to Angel Gallery, Paul has also been represented by Legends of  The West Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Cassen’s Fine Art gallery in Hamilton, Montana and Going to the Sun Gallery in Whitefish, Mt..  Paul has also been selected on several occasions and has sold paintings through “The Auction to benefit the Russell” at the  Charles Russell auction in Great Falls, Mt.

Paul paints en Plein air (on location) as well as in the studio that he built in Coeur d Alene, Idaho.  He paints a lot of different genres as you can see from his collection of paintings, however the one theme for most is that they are generally of the American west.

Paul and his wife Jane live in Coeur d’Alene.
