Ken is the artist behind Creative Woodworkings. When he retired at age 55, he began carving wooden fish. This newfound joy has turned into a 50 hour a week “hobby of love”. Ken spends most days working with band saws and sanders to build unique salmon and trout. He uses many varieties of wood for his creations, but his favorites are buckeye burl, redwood burl and cottonwood burl. Ken and his wife travel to Northern California (near the Oregon border) at least twice a year to hand pick burls from their wood suppliers. He then custom cuts each to his desired thickness. Each burl is unique in its coloring and grain, as is each fish. Ken has representation in numerous galleries in the west.
