HEATHER HAWLEY

Heather Hawley

Like many artists, Heather loved art from an early age. She learned a lot about art from her father, who

was an accomplished commercial artist and oil painter. Although she pursued a career in law and business,

her love for art never left her. Heather joined a local art group in the 1990’s and painted with them as

often as she could while balancing a busy law practice and raising a family. The art group was led by a

professional artist, and Heather continued to develop her technical skills under his guidance for over

twenty years. The balance of her art education has been acquired through attendance at workshops,

extensive self-directed independent study, and mentorship programs. Heather is passionate about

continual learning and considers it an integral part of her development and lifelong journey as an artist.

Heather retired from law in 2015 and is now a full-time artist.

Heather works exclusively in oils in a realistic style. Her passion for nature is reflected in her art, and

Heather’s favourite subjects for painting include western wildlife and landscapes. Living in Western

Canada has enabled her to spend a lot of time in the mountains and enjoy the beautiful scenery and

variety of wildlife found in the region, providing wonderful inspiration for her paintings. Heather is also

an avid photographer, which provides her with extensive material for her paintings.

Heather’s goal as an artist is to bring some of nature’s beauty into the lives and homes of collectors. She

hopes that when someone looks at one of her paintings it evokes some of the same emotion they would

experience if they were out in nature looking at the real thing. At the end of the day, her biggest source

of satisfaction as an artist is to see the genuine pleasure that her collectors experience through her

artwork.

Heather’s work is owned by collectors in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.
